In these times of major changes not only within UNESCO and their implications for general administration and staff, but also for the UN system and the International Civil Service as a whole, I believe a new dynamism and original initiatives that are aimed at effectively, rapidly and concretely addressing the issues facing our staff, individually and collectively, affecting general service and professionals, HQ and Field staff are very much needed. I trust that my long experience in two sectors in-house, my strong knowledge of all procedures, administration and methods of UNESCO and my dedication to making our working environment and conditions enjoyable, respectful and positive for all levels of staff will be helpful in assisting the STU and UNESCO staff as a whole in bringing our situation to the level we all wish and deserve.
Re-elected on 20 March 2014 by the STU members for two years (April 2014 – March 2016) and member of the 8th STU Executive Bureau, Marcello Scarone-Azzi left UNESCO on 30 September 2015.
