I joined the local Staff Union since my first year of employment in ICTP.
In 2010, I presented my candidature for the local STU section at ICTP’s council and was elected staff representative. I am still holding this role until the beginning of 2014. In case I am elected in the Conseil of STU Paris, I intend to dedicate my time entirely to this function and therefore not candidate myself locally (while still remaining in the local council). During my service as local staff representative, I attended several training courses organized by FICSA, such as those on General Service Staff salary survey methodology for non-headquarters duty stations and on the Appeal Process in international organizations in 2010, a workshop on staff representatives training and negociation skills in 2011 and in 2012 to one session of training on job classification. I represented STU in two of the meetings of the Italy-based UN organizations (in 2010 and 2013).
Our local STU section in Trieste, during these few past years, participated actively with STU HQs in various major projects (such as PA implementation and conversion of SSA long term contracts) and collaborates regularly also directly with FICSA.
In these years, I have gained a lot of experience in all the general fields of staff representation which I would like to place at the disposal of the Union and at HQs, and which, in my opinion could be useful, in particular, to strengthen the collaboration/liaison between HQs and the Institutes/Field Offices.
I am very interested in issues concerning gender balance and fair local contract conditions.
Elected in the by-election of the STU Council on 4 June 2013 by the STU members for 10 months (June 2013 - March 2014).
