I strongly believe that unions are not only crucial for staff, but they are also at the heart of community building and social cohesion, all factors associated with positive outcomes across multiple indicators of personal well-being and organizational productivity.
Through its broad mandate, UNESCO is an Organization of UN System that serves the most ambitious aim of humanity: building peace in the minds of women and men. To achieve this purpose, it is key to secure that staff are provided with the highest standards of enabling working environments, which need to be built on the basis of fairness, equity, health and safety, notably mental health, work-life balance, career development opportunities, respect for diversity, inclusion among others.
In light of the above, I wish to continue serving my colleagues for the respect and promotion of their rights as STU Council Member. Thank you for your support.
Re-elected on 20 March 2024 by the STU members for two years (April 2024 – March 2026), Ms Andrea Gisselle Burbano Fuertes is also member of the 17th STU Executive Bureau.
