I have always viewed labor unions as a most essential element of democracy and as an important collective monitoring, bargain, and action mechanisms. At UNESCO, as in any other organization, the health of the work environment in terms of its capacity to transcend grade and classification is essential for the accomplishment of the organizations’ objectives.
I therefore believe that such environment can only be attained if our collective voice as employees is heard and our opinions are shared amongst us and with the management and governing bodies clearly and faithfully and if as a Union, thoughtful, consultative, and deliberately democratic process continues to shape our collective positions on issues of interest to us as staff members. My colleagues’ nomination as a candidate honors me and, if I am elected, I hope and will strive to be the representative they thought I would be.
Elected on 16 March 2016 by the STU members for two years (April 2016 – March 2018).
